Maple Shade Store Owner Robbed at Knifepoint

Police are searching for the suspect, who they say committed the robbery in broad daylight Friday afternoon.

Maple Shade Store Owner Robbed at Knifepoint

Maple Shade Police are looking for a man who robbed a store owner at knifepoint Friday afternoon.

The suspect approached the proprietor of Rewind, a secondhand store at 6 East Main St., around 2:45 p.m., brandishing a knife, and demanded money from the register, police said. The suspect fled out the back door with approximately $150. The store owner was unharmed.

Several police officers searched the area, with the assistance of a K-9 team from Medford Police, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Police described the perpetrator as a white male, 6 feet tall, stocky build, with a goatee, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and a dark knit hat.

Police believe the suspect may have spent time visiting other stores on Main Street before deciding which one to rob. According to police, Main Street was very busy Friday afternoon—with many pedestrians, shoppers and motorists in the area—leading them to believe a number of people saw the suspect prior to the crime.

Maple Shade Police urge anyone who thinks they saw the suspect to call Burlington County Central Communication at 856-234-8300 or police detectives at 856-779-7003 and reference case 2011-19080.

Police hope to be able to provide a composite sketch in a few days.
