Moorestown Arbor Day Celebration 2015
A hundred volunteers planted 75 trees then celebrated with songs and awards.
This year’s Arbor Day Celebration was special because we hosted the State’s 66th annual event and we celebrated our 25th year as a Tree City USA! The event began at 8 a.m. on April 24, 2015 with a hundred volunteers from all over the state planting 75 trees at Wesley Bishop Park on North Church Street. Sixty sponsors assisted in raising $9,500 to purchase the trees.
A ceremony was held at 11 a.m., hosted by John Gibson, Moorestown Tree Planting and Preservation Committee, with a welcome from Lisa Madara, Moorestown Garden Club President and comments from Assistant Commissioner, DEP, Rich Boornazian and Director of State Forestry Services, Lynn Fleming. Elijah Morman, a member of the Philadelphia Boys Choir performed “The Star Spangled Banner”. A Proclamation was presented by Mayor Victoria Napolitano. Roberts School Chorus entertained the crowd with three songs. Awards were presented by the Appearance Committee, New Jersey Shade Tree Federation, New Jersey Forestry Services and the New Jersey Community Forestry Council.
A ceremonial tree was planted after the ceremony.
