Moorestown Parks and Rec: Now's a Good Time to Start Your Summer Job Search

Moorestown Parks and Rec: Now's a Good Time to Start Your Summer Job Search
It’s February.  Everyone is busy making (or breaking) resolutions, clearing the slate and thinking about summer.  That’s right – warmer breezes, bright sun and for most, gainful employment or meaningful volunteer opportunities.

While many students may not be thinking any further ahead than their next exam date or next project due, the Moorestown Department of Parks & Recreation is already preparing for a fantastic summer filled with activities for residents of all ages.

This includes hiring staff and volunteers to help facilitate so many of the programs that are offered to local residents.  From the Summer Parks Program (Theater included) to sports camps and lessons, the Department of Parks & Recreation has something for everyone!

The Department of Parks & Recreation Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is one of the most sought after volunteer opportunities during the summer months.  CIT’s are hired as volunteers to assist Counselors and Site Supervisors in overseeing the nearly 500 youth who attend the Summer Parks Program (SPP) or other Recreation activities during the summer months.

CITs are hired with the intent of training them to become paid Counselors once they are old enough to work. The CIT program, which has been in existence for the last 7 years, has had a successful rate of rehires during the course of the program.

Youth who become active within the Summer Parks Program often reapply year after year creating a safe, consistent environment for other younger residents.

Youth interested in employment with the Moorestown Department of Parks & Recreation may obtain an application from the Recreation Department offices, located at the Church Street Recreation Center on the corner of Third & Church Streets.

Applications may be picked up in person or mailed to the applicant.  Applications but must be filled out by the applicant only.  Employment opportunities are available in the following capacities: SPP Camp Counselors (must be 16 or older to apply); SPP Counselor in Training (ages 13-15); Summer Sports Program Assistants (must be 16 or older to apply) Summer Sports CIT (ages 13-15).

Deadline for Summer employment applications is March 14.  Any applications received after the deadline will automatically be wait-listed.  No applications will be accepted after March 28.

There are limited spaces available for all positions.  Applications can be mailed to 2 Executive Drive Suite 9B, Lenola Road, Moorestown, NJ 08057.

For more information please contact Kahra Buss at kbuss@moorestown.nj.us or call the Department of Parks & Recreation at 914-3093.
