Old Shoes Taking Up Space in Your House?

Ditch your old kicks and give them to someone who really needs them through the Moorestown Library's latest shoe drive.

Old Shoes Taking Up Space in Your House? Old Shoes Taking Up Space in Your House?

If the back of your closet is overflowing with piles of shoes you’ve haven’t worn in years, or if your children continually outgrow their shoes before they wear them out, the Moorestown Library has the perfect solution for cleaning out your closet and doing a good deed all at the same time.

The library is hosting a shoe drive to collect new and gently used shoes in all styles and sizes for men, women and children in need. In 2010, Moorestown residents donated 576 pairs of shoes in a library shoe drive, and The Friends of the Library sent them to Soles for Souls, an organization that provides shoes for those in need all over the world. This time, we’re addressing the need for shoes right here in Burlington County by donating shoes to the Burlington County Community Action Program (BCCAP).

BCCAP is a private, nonprofit social service agency established in 1965 to serve the low-income population of Burlington County. Their mission is “to combat the causes and reduce the effects of poverty in Burlington County.” BCCAP provides a spectrum of services to Burlington County residents, including assistance with childcare, housing and utilities, and referrals, education and advocacy. With your help, BCCAP will also be able to provide much-needed shoes to our neighbors throughout Burlington County.

So scour your closet and bring your new and gently used donations to the collection box at the front of the library. Your old shoes will find a new purpose, brightening the life of someone in need.
