A Tabernacle woman has been charged with stealing over $130,000 from two local law firms that employed her as a bookkeeper, Moorestown Police said Thursday night.

Michele D. Wonderlin, 42, was charged with theft by deception, misappropriation of entrusted property and computer criminal activity.

A four month investigation conducted by the Moorestown Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office resulted in Wonderlin’s arrest on Wednesday. She allegedly stole $132,281 from the two law firms between 2008 and 2013. She allegedly used the stolen money to pay her personal bills including payments to Walmart, Staples, Dicks Sporting Goods, Verizon, and Comcast.

Her bail was modified to $40,000 with 10 percent permissible following her initial court appearance on Thursday.
