Lance honors Gayle Livecchia of Mt. Arlington for historic preservation work

Lance and Gayle Livecchia at the Stanhope Cemetery

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) visited the Stanhope Cemetery in Dover to see the work of historic preservation activist Gayle Livecchia, left, of Mt. Arlington. Ms. Livecchia is an accomplished history buff who through her research discovered Revolutionary War era graves that had fallen into disrepair.

Ms. Livecchia worked collaboratively with Stanhope to rehabilitate the grave of Samuel Sayre, a First Major of the Morris Militia who died in 1816. Mrs. Bobbi Goodman, Director of Constituent Services for Congressman Lance, right, assisted with obtaining next-of-kin permission to rehabilitate the marker and Mr. John Sperry, center, of Stanhope engraved and placed the new stone.
