Morris Township lands 2 sets of siblings in US Premiere Musical Dream Street

Four schoolmates in the Morris School District were cast in off-Broadway musical on 42nd St. #DreamStreet #summerdream #musicaltheatre

Two sets of siblings, Maya and Naina Slaughter as well as Danielle and Bobby Becht are performing at The Pearl Theatre on 42nd Street in the brand new musical, Dream Street.

Dream Street, which comes straight from London, follows the story of a group of kids auditioning for a big time West End producer.

The fabulous foursome auditioned for the musical back in June and were thrilled when they received the call back. “The audition process is always difficult as you have to wait…for a call back and then to find out if you make the final cast list” say the kids who all agree the waiting is tough.

All four went to school together at Normandy Park Elementary School. Maya and Danielle became very close friends when they were in the same 4th grade class and their teacher put them together on a project. The rest has been history as they enter their second year of junior high at Frelinghuysen Middle School. And it’s great their younger siblings get along well and share their passion for the theatre too!

Danielle ended a run playing Michael Banks in Mary Poppins with the Trilogy Repertory Company in July and was a 2012 Morristown’s Got Talent Finalist. Maya concluded her last show, Pixie Dust Players’ world premiere production of Children of Eden, JR. where she was a storyteller. Both girls, along with Naina, were also in the February run of Annie Jr. at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre. And at the end of May, Bobby was in Les Miserables at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

This is the third production the quartet has been in together and they have had a ton of fun along the way! They carpool, rehearse and laugh together, which makes the long hours of rehearsing all the more rewarding. And when the show comes together, that’s the ultimate satisfaction and thrill.

Ten-year old Bobby is performing as Jesse while his sister, Danielle (12), scored the role of Hollie. Maya, also 12, and eight-year old Naina earned the roles of Daisy and Olivia, respectively. It is unanimous that they love working with director/producer Laura Luc and the fantastic team she has assembled.

Rehearsals took place at Alvin Ailey Studios in New York City and moved to the theater on 42nd Street this week.

Performance dates are as follows (Bobby can be seen in all shows):

Maya & Naina: 8/13 @ 2 pm, 8/14 @ 7:30 pm, 8/16 @ 2 pm

Danielle: 8/13 @ 7:30 pm, 8/15 @ 2 pm, 8/16 @ 6 pm
