N.J. Grandparents Killed In Crash After Easter Egg Hunt: Prosecutor

Two New Jersey grandparents were killed Friday as traveled home from an Easter egg hunt, authorities said.

A 23-year-old New Jersey man has been arrested and charged in connection with a head-on accident Friday that killed two grandparents after an Easter egg hunt, authorities said.

Frank Cabezas was charged with two counts of second degree death by auto, three counts of fourth degree assault by auto, reckless driving and driving under the influence. Cabezas was being held Saturday on $250,000 bail in the Somerset County Jail, the Hunterdon County Prosecutors Office told nj.com.

The grandparents were Frank Corso, 79, and his wife, Audrey Corso, 75, both of Flemington. Their son was also in the car: Gregory Corso, 43, of Budd Lake, was taken by ambulance to Morristown Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutors Office.

Corso's son, Matthew, 5, was seated in a rear booster seat and was taken to Morristown Medical Center and subsequently released. His sister, Marissa, 10, was flown to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick with a possible broken femur, according to authorities.

At 2:45 p.m., the grandparents, their grandchildren and the father were in a vehicle that was struck head-on as it traveled along Route 523 just south of Woodchurch Road in Readington, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s office.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III said in a news release: “Our condolences and prayers are with this family this holiday weekend.”

The names of the grandparents were being withheld pending family notification.
