City Man Faces Life in Jail for Drugs, Weapons Charges

Police caught Henderson dealing in Lincoln Park

A city man was convicted by a federal district court jury in Camden Tuesday of drugs and weapons charges that could send him in jail for life, the US Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Jimmil Henderson, 29, was seen by Newark police in Lincoln Park Feb. 18, 2011 conducting a hand-to-hand drug transaction. Following a brief foot chase, Henderson was captured at Broad and Pennington streets with marijuana and cocaine in his possession. During the chase, Henderson also tossed a loaded 9mm firearm, which police recovered.

When he’s sentenced several months from now, Henderson faces up to 20 years and a $1 million fine for possession with intent to distribute narcotics, up to 10 years for being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon and up to life for using a firearm in furtherance of a drug offense.
