County executive to announce new ranks for 22 correctional officers.

DiVincenzo to Host Promotion Ceremony Thursday

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. will announce the promotion of 22 Essex County Correctional Facility officers at a Department of Corrections Promotion Ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 21.

The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on the 14th floor of Essex County LeRoy F. Smith, Jr. Public Safety Building, 60 Nelson Place in Newark, according to a press release from the county executive’s office.

DiVincenzo is expected to announce one officer will be promoted to captain, eight officers will be promoted to lieutenant and 12 officers will be promoted to sergeant.

In addition, the promotions will include the first married couple in the history of the Essex County Department of Corrections to receive their promotions at the same time.

Officers to be honored were promoted in October 2012 and February 2013. The October ceremony was postponed by Hurricane Sandy.
