N.J. Has America's Most Miserable Town — But It's Among State's 100 'Kinkiest,' Surveys Say

A new survey says N.J. has America's most miserable town, but it's also among the state's 100 "kinkiest" communities. Below are both lists.

You may find this kind of silly but revealing.

A new survey says New Jersey has America's most miserable town, but it's also among the state's 100 "kinkiest" communities.

The Roadsnacks website, a data compiler that specializes in creating lists that rate communities on how ”snobby” or “redneck” they are, compiled lists that rate the most “miserable” towns in America, ranking Newark as number one.

But just wait, Newark. You're also the third "kinkiest" in New Jersey (see both lists below).

Roadsnacks.net, which recently provided a list of N.J. towns with the highest rate of Ashley Madison "cheaters,” has compiled a "miserable" list using data from the Census’s American Community Survey.

The list was based on the percentage of residents without health insurance, average commute times, unemployment rates, cost of living, percentage of married couples, percentage of home owners and poverty rates.

The "kinkiest" list was based on a Roadsnacks survey that checked to see which cities in New Jersey purchased the most sex toys from online erotic adult toy and novelty powerhouse Adam & Eve. "It’s pretty easy to figure it out, actually, when you know where people are buying adult toys," according to the site.

That data was calculated on a per capita basis, meaning these are orders on a per-person basis, not a raw number of total money spent or number of orders.

Here are the survey's 10 most miserable towns in America:

  1. Newark, New Jersey
  2. Miami, Florida
  3. San Bernardino, California
