Newark Man Sentenced For Sexually Exploiting Child

A 59-year-old Essex County man admitted to taking photos and videos of five separate encounters with a young girl.

A Newark man was sentenced to 360 months in prison on Wednesday for inducing a girl to engage in sexually explicit conduct while he took pictures and videos.

Pedro Rios, 59, previously pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney of New Jersey stated.

According to court documents and statements, Rios admitted that on five separate dates between March 4, 2008 and Nov. 8, 2011, he induced a girl under the age of 12 to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of taking pictures and videos of the child’s genitals.

Rios’s also admitted that he possessed images of child sexual abuse on Feb. 5, 2013.

Several of the videos allegedly depicted Rios’s abuse of the child victim in the cab of a tractor trailer truck.

In addition to the prison term, a federal judge sentenced Rios to a lifetime of supervised release.
