Greater Newark Conservancy hosting annual family friendly event

Spring Block Party This Saturday in Newark

What better way to celebrate the return of warm weather than with a block party?

The Greater Newark Conservancy is hosting its annual spring block party this Saturday the Urban Environmental Center (32 Prince St., between Springfield and South Orange avenues) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It's a family friendly event that will feature kids' crafts, face painting, a garden safari, scavenger hunt and a special visit from Rainbow the Cow and her dairy farmer. Adults can enjoy free raffles, gardening demonstrations and free food samples.

Fresh produce at the Youth Farm Stand, staffed by the Newark Youth Leadership Project interns, and a variety of plants will also be available for purchase.

Don't forget, Sunday is Mother's Day, so keep your favorite lady in mind as you peruse wares from a handful of vendors offering everything from cosmetics to glass crafts.

For more information, contact the Greater Newark Conservancy at 973-642-4646 or visit citybloom.org.
