The Range Rover belonging to the victim of a fatal carjacking at the Short Hills mall Sunday night was recovered early Monday morning in Newark, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray announced.

The vehicle was found in the 200 block of Renner Avenue, officials said. Witnesses reported seeing helicopters overhead as law enforcement worked the scene.

Hoboken resident Dustin Friedland, 30, was shot outside the upscale shopping center around 9 pm. He was pronounced dead at Morristown Memorial Hospital a few hours later.

Friedland’s wife was with him at the time of the attack but was unhurt.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-847-7432.
