Bells Are Ringing: Rutgers To Celebrate 250th Anniversary With Church Bells

Happy 250th birthday Rutgers!

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— In celebration of Rutgers 250th anniversary, churches across New Brunswick and Piscataway will ring their bells for five minutes this Thursday.

Beginning at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, six different churches will ring their bells alongside the bell at Old Queens. The Honors College at Rutgers New Brunswick will also chime in.

Rutgers was founded on Nov. 10, 1776, making it the eighth oldest college in the country, and one of just nine that was chartered before the American Revolution.
