Fatal Victim ID'd In New Brunswick House Fire
Deadly house fire in New Jersey leaves at least one dead, authorities said.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — One person died early Wednesday morning in a house fire in New Jersey, according to authorities. Crews arrived at the scene on Stockton Road around 12:44 a.m. to find a two-story home engulfed in flames, according to authorities.
Loretta Katko, 73, who lived in the residence, was located in a bedroom and pronounced dead upon her discovery by the firefighters.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious at this time.

New Brunswick police and fire department personnel said they responded to a house fire at 29 Stockton Road and found heavy smoke pushing out from the eaves of the structure. Firefighters encountered heavy fire inside the residence with extensive damage to the first and second floors, authorities said.
