Cops: Jersey Shore Woman Throws Baby Into Atlantic Ocean, Then Jumps
Both were rescued, but the mother was charged.

A 24-year-old woman was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly threw her infant into the water in Atlantic City Sunday and then jumped into the ocean herself, police said.
Two fishermen witnessed the woman, Patricia Shurig of Atlantic City, throw her baby into the water just after 5 p.m. Tom Bell, a retired Atlantic City firefighter, helped rescued the baby girl and did CPR on the baby, according to NBC40.
Both were rescued.
Police say the mother was probably suicidal when she threw the infant girl, who is less than two months old, off the rocks at Pacific Beach, according to NJ.com. Perkins helped bring Shurig to shore.

Fisherman Luis Ortiz also jumped into the inlet, saying: “I’m going in for you. You can’t panic and don’t try to grab me. That’s it, and I went in after her. That’s it,” according to NBC40.
