The multi-talented Eddie Shiffler will star in a Rock Concert featuring some of the best, new talent on the East Coast at the Music Pier on Friday, May 9. A native of Ocean City, Shiffler is a singer, songwriter and musician whose new band, “Green Language,” will introduce its first album, “Of the Birds” during the show.

The concert is set to take place from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the Pier Auditorium, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. The album will feature all new sound tracks written by Shiffler whose musical career spans 18 years with concerts in New York and throughout the country. Green Language will play all the tracks on the new album during the concert. Of the Birds will be available that evening on download cards and limited edition CDs. 

Shiffler will host the show, front his band and perform select songs from his 18-year career between acts. Other bands scheduled to play include The Rivals from Philadelphia; Hounds Basket and Bad Look from New York; and the Out Lips and Almost Heroes from Ocean City. Artwork will be on display by Anna Vosberg, Aaron Jamison, Ivy Chaya Wilson and others. Admission is $10 at the door. All ages are welcome. The Somers Point Jazz Society will bring the Grammy Award winning Arturo O’Farill Latin Jazz Big Band to the Music Pier on May 17.. The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra is led by pianist, composer and director Arturo O’Farill who brings together the drama of big band jazz, the culture of Latin American Music and 18 of the world’s most accomplished jazz musicians. The band’s “Song for Chico” won the Grammy for the best Jazz Album of the Year in 2008 and the group has received many Grammy nominations. 

Show time is 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $20 for Somers Point Jazz Society members, $25 for non-members until May 15. On Saturday, May 24 starting at 7 p.m. at the Music Pier, Linda Gentille will present a Memorial Day Weekend Concert “America,” with the Jersey Shore Pops Orchestra. This will be a tribute to “the great American Heroes” who inspired millions.” The music of John Philip Sousa, Glenn Miller, Lee Greenwood, Gershwin, Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan and Walt Disney will be featured.
