Miss New Jersey Senior America Winner to Appear at Mr. Mature America Pageant
A Miss New Jersey Senior America Pageant winner will be part of the Mr. Mature America Pageant, city officials said this week.

JoAnne Santori, the executive director of the Miss New Jersey Senior America Pageant, expressed that the pageant was interested in staging a similar event, officials said in a release issued Tuesday morning. The pageant, which is an affiliate of the national pageant that returned to Atlantic City last year, intends to send a winner to the Ocean City event.

The Miss New Jersey Senior America Pageant will be one of the outstanding women over 60 who will be honored and perform during pageant intervals. Others include 81-year-old baton twirler Betty Lambert, Peggy King and TV and Movie singer-entertainer and Nancy Fox.

The Mr. Mature America pageant is the first in the country to honor men over the age of 60, and takes place at the Music Pier on March 22, 7 p.m. The pageant will be preceded by a performance by the Bubba Mac Blues Band. The band is made up entirely of men over the age of 60.

Contestants in the Mr. Maturity pageant will present a talent that can range from music, stand-up comedy, a hobby, or an organization they have assisted for the betterment of the community. They will also discuss how life was, growing up in their particular era.

Ruth Eni, the president and radio spokes person for Dietz and Watson will be one of the pageant’s judges. Dietz and Watson, the major sponsor of Ocean City’s annual Doo Dah Parade, will present large Dietz and Watson Hams to all the contestants.

Tickets are $10 with proceeds benefitting the Ocean City Ecumenical Council Community Food Cupboard and the Philippine Relief Fund. Call 609-525-9300 to order tickets.

Men 60-and-over who wish to enter the Pageant should call (609) 525-9300 or email msoifer@hotmail.com. After business hours, call 609-364-4010. All contestants will receive a big Dietz and Watson ham and are invited to attend a reception at the Flanders Hotel.
