Friday night's storm, which left more than 100,000 people in the region without power, left Ocean City mostly unscathed after its wake. Neighboring Atlantic County, however, experienced widespread outages that have persisted into Sunday.

According to Atlantic City Electric's outage map on Sunday, there were approximately fewer than 20 outages left in Ocean City, while tens of thousands remained effected in Atlantic County, from Atlantic City through Northfield, Linwood and Somers Point and west into Egg Harbor Township and Mays Landing.

Power is partially restored across the Ninth Street Bridge in Somers Point. The Point Diner was among one of the few establishments open on Sunday morning, and the parking lot was full throughout the morning while guests waited for seats.

Ocean City has been an oasis for many from the mainland, with residents shopping at the supermarkets in Ocean City, filling up on fuel at the gas stations on the island, and heading to the boardwalk and beach. On Saturday night, Superfresh in Ocean City sold out of ice and customers waited in lines to stock up on non-perishables.

Temperatures, according to Weather.com, are predicted to be in the 90s on Sunday, and with many without power or air conditioning in the region, people will be searching for ways to beat the heat.

At a press conference on Saturday, Governor Chris Christie said that most people in the region who are without power should see their electricity restored .
