Parsippany Police Decline Comment on Cop Accused of DWI

Chief of police cites personnel matter, won't disclose employment status of John Freudenberg.

Parsippany Police Decline Comment on Cop Accused of DWI
A day after the news broke that an off-duty Parsippany police officer was arrested for allegedly driving drunk, the department's top cop would not make any statements relating to the incident.

Parsippany Police Chief Paul Phillips' office would not comment on the work status of officer John Freudenberg, who was arrested in his hometown of Randolph over the weekend after police found his pickup truck crashed on a residential front lawn.

Freudenberg told responding officers he had been run off the road. He performed field sobriety tests and took a breathalyzer test, and was subsequently arrested.

Phillips would not comment on Freudenberg's work status – whether he was suspended or not – citing a personnel matter.

Patch is seeking more details into the matter through an Open Public Records Act request. Those results have not yet been made available.
