Search For Autistic Parsippany Man Concludes After 36 Hours

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The man who was reported missing in Parsippany Tuesday has been safely located, according to officials.

Jigar Prajapati, a 31-year-old autistic man, was reported missing after he left his home on Califon Road around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, police say.

Police believe he left his residence on foot sometime between 3:30 and 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. He was last seen wearing blue pajama pants and a gray T-shirt. Prajapati is around 5’5” tall and weighs 160 pounds, police said.

He did not have his cellphone with him and was considered endangered, authorities added.

On Tuesday, the New Jersey State Police deployed a low-flying helicopter to search Lake Parsippany and the surrounding area.

As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, authorities did not have any updates on Prajapati's whereabouts.

However, officials announced that Prajapati was found safe at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"Thank you to the Parsippany Police Department, assisting agencies, first responders, and members of our community who helped share information and assist in the search," a township update read. "We appreciate everyone’s support and cooperation."

Officials did not reveal where Prajapati was found.
