Update: Route 46 East is closed entirely between Troy and Baldwin Roads, Parsippany police said at about 9:30 a.m. Friday. The closure will last until about 4 p.m. Friday while crews place a permanent fix on a previous water-main break.

A marked detour is in place.

This is the same area in which state officials reported a lane closure because of a sinkhole earlier Friday morning.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Officials closed off part of Route 46 East in Parsippany on Friday morning because of a sinkhole. The right lane is closed near I-287, while the left lane remains open, according to 511nj.org.

State officials reported the sinkhole closure near the Jersey City Reservoir at 8:54 a.m. Friday.

Morris County remains under the National Weather Service's winter-weather advisory until 5 p.m. Friday. The agency expects freezing rain in that window, which could make roads slippery.

Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Schools are dismissing early Friday.
