New Point Pleasant Council Member Takes His Seat On The Dais

Michael Thulen Jr. will serve out the remainder of now-Mayor Robert Sabosik's term.

The makeup of the Point Pleasant Borough Council will remain all Republican after the swearing-in of Michael Thulen Jr. at the Feb. 2 meeting.

Thulen was chosen from three qualified candidates submitted by the local GOP organization to fill out the unexpired term of now-Mayor Robert Sabosik. Thulen will serve as chairman of the public safety committee.

While this is Thulen’s first elected position, he formerly served as chairman of the Brick Township Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners. He is currently board chairman of the New Jersey Young Republican Federation. He joins newly-elected Councilwoman Pam Snyder.

In other business, residents were happy with the borough’s response to recent snowstorms so far. Sabosik credited the 24 employees and 18 trucks used to plow the roads.

“That’s where your tax dollars are going,” Sabosik said.

Snyder said that any residents who are receiving medical treatment such as dialysis or who hold emergency occupations in the medical field, such as doctors or nurses, can inform the police department to ensure that their streets are well plowed in the event of a snowstorm.
