Point Beach Gets 'Ball Rolling' on Launching Dune Project, Securing Easements

The Point Pleasant Beach Council says it's  “getting the ball rolling” on the town's dune project and is currently in contact with the Army Corps of Engineers.

During the council's Tuesday meeting, Mayor Vincent Barrella said the town hopes to sign off on the project this week, in what he says is the last step needed to secure the easements.  “With a little luck,” Barrella said, “we will get dunes in by next summer.”

The mayor acknowledged borough concerns surrounding dune replenishment and announced that a fact sheet on the project would be provided to residents in the coming weeks.

Another Shore replenishment project was given the green light at the municipal meeting. The council approved a resolution to allow Atlantic Cape Fishery to restore Superstorm Sandy-damaged bulkheads and piers on Channel Drive.
