Point Boro Man Awaits Fate On Child Porn Possession Charges

A 68-year-old Point Pleasant Borough man has been charged with possession and distribution of online child pornography.

Gregory Wisniewski was charged on Monday by the Somerset County Prosecutor's office with endangering the welfare of a child in connection with alleged distribution of child pornography.

He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child in connection with alleged possession of child pornography.

Bail was set by Judge John H. Pursel, in Somerset County, at $75,000 cash or bond, and Wisniewski was ordered to have no contact with children as a condition of bail.

Wisniewski was arrested and charged with the endangering charge in the second degree, and the possession charge in the fourth degree, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Chief of Detectives Stuart Buckman and Somerset County Sheriff Frank J. Provenzano, Sr.

Soriano said on Monday that Wisniewski was arrested as a result of an investigation initiated by the Somerset County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The investigation revealed that Wisniewski used the Internet to transmit files containing images of underage children engaged in prohibited sexual acts, according to a release from the prosecutor's office.

On Monday, police executed a search warrant on Wisniewski’s home, the statement said.

"As a result of the search warrant, police recovered the files sent by defendant on his computer, as well as additional files containing child pornography," the statement says.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's High Tech Crime Unit and the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department assisted in the arrest.

The Internet Task Force is made up of detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and sheriff’s officers from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
