Community Y Hosts Kids in the Kitchen

The Community YMCA and the Junior League of Monmouth County are presenting Kids in the Kitchen this Saturday, Oct. 6. The event is fun and interactive, according to a release, and is designed to teach children how to prepare healthy snacks and meals, as well as the importance of staying active and making healthy lifestyle choices.

Children will create healthy treats at the smoothie and trail mix stations, and will move and groove at the fitness station. Other activities being offered include, herb planting, plate coloring, plate the food and create your own chef's hat.

From a release:

The goal of Kids in the Kitchen is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help to reverse the growth of childhood obesity and other related health issues.  The event is free and open to the community.

The event runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Community YMCA Family Health and Wellness Center at 166 Maple Ave., in Red Bank.
