DWI Checkpoints This Weekend In Shrewsbury, Asbury Park

The Monmouth County DWI task force will have two checkpoints looking for intoxicated or impaired drivers, authorities said.

SHREWSBURY, NJ — Monmouth County authorities have announced two DWI checkpoints for this weekend in the county, in Shrewsbury and in Asbury Park.

The checkpoints will be seeking to detect drivers under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, said Brielle Police Chief Michael W. Palmer, task force coordinator.

The Monmouth County DWI Task force will conduct one checkpoint from 10 p.m. Friday through 2 a.m. Saturday on Route 35 South in Shrewsbury, he said.

Task force members and officers from the Shrewsbury Police Department will pull vehicles from the southbound lanes into the Shrewsbury Plaza parking lot to determine drivers' sobriety, Palmer said.

The second checkpoint will run from 11 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday on Route 71 in Asbury Park, Palmer said.

Task force members and officers from the Asbury Park Police Department will pull vehicles from the southbound lanes into the Asbury Park municipal parking lot to determine drivers' sobriety, he said.
