A pool of potential Republican candidates for Bergen County Freeholder has been narrowed to three, as NorthJersey.com reports Brian Fitzhenry announced he has dropped out of the race.
According to the report, Fitzhenry, a former North Arlington school board member, withdrew his candidacy for one of two GOP nominations. The report did not give a reason why he dropped from the race.
At the party’s county convention Thursday, the remaining three candidates - Ridgefield lawyer Robert Avery, Englewood educator Dierdre Paul and Ridgewood Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh – will be narrowed to the two who will run for spots on the county Freeholder Board, the report said.
The two who receive the most votes at the convention will face incumbent Democratic Freeholders David Ganz and Joan Voss in the November election.
