Brought together by social media and an interest in helping the little guy triumph against the odds, .

Organized on Facebook by Glen Rock neighbors concerned about the hardware store's apparently diminishing inventory, the "Cash Mob" brought shoppers from as far as Morris County with $20 bills.

First featured on Patch, the story of owner Geno Paolucci and the efforts of residents Andrew Ritterman, Jane Lambert and hundreds more has since gone viral, even featured on ABC Eyewitness News.

"Geno, the owner seemed very happy," Ritterman said Sunday. "He said he was thrilled with the results and he got so much publicity. It was a lot of fun doing it, it was pretty intense. Hopefully it spreads to other stores, to other towns."
