Susan Stanek, Ridgewood Irish Dance Academy founder, was recently named to the
“Irish Small Business 50,” a list compiled by the Irish Echo that celebrates entrepreneurial business leaders whose skill and Irish-American determination have made their businesses succeed.
Susan Daly Stanek was born in Dublin, and began her dance career began at the age of 3. After performing throughout Europe with an international touring company, she moved to the USA in 1986, and today her family, including children Nick, Ashling and Lindsey, reside in Ridgewood.
Susan opened Ridgewood Irish Dance Studio in 2004, and in 2010 founded an Irish Dance sleepaway camp in Massachusetts. Camp Rince Nua attracts an international array of students and professional Irish Dance performers as instructors.
The Ridgewood Irish Dance Academy presently trains young through high school-aged students. Most dance students will compete this summer in the Irish Dance National Competition, held this year in Mahwah.
In addition to Camp Rince Nua, Ridgewood Irish Dance also hosts a summer camp in its new Ho-Ho-Kus studio.
