Ridgewood High Schooler Wins Kasschau Memorial Shell Scholarship
Award is in honor of the village's "Dean of Music."
The Kasschau Memorial Shell Scholarship was awarded to Emmett Rapaport, a graduating senior from Ridgewood High School.
This scholarship is in honor of Frank Kasschau who was know as "The Dean of Music" when he resided in Ridgewood during th early 20th century.
Frank Kasschau was the music director of both the Orpheus Club and the Ridgewood Choral and the organist for the First Presbyterian Church. He believed that Ridgewood should be know for its love of music.
Emmett Rapaport has demonstrated his love of music as he has participated in many of the music offerings in the high school. He has been in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Saxophone Ensemble, has been a saxophone soloist at the Maroon and White Concerts and a mentor to younger music students.
He intends to continue to study music at the University of Michigan and spread the love of music.
