Habitat Bergen Goes ‘Planet Green’

Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County helps reduce waste by collecting recycled electronics for Planet Green

Habitat Bergen Goes ‘Planet Green’

Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County has joined the Planet Green Recycle Team on a mission to reduce waste and protect the environment by collecting small electronics, such as used cell phones, tablets, navigation systems, etc. and shipping them off to Planet Green to recycle.

“Our priority is to provide affordable housing to low-income families within Bergen County. If we can do something good for the environment at the same time, it is a win-win for us,” said Jacey Raimondo, Habitat Bergen Executive Director.

Habitat Bergen is encouraging its surrounding community and partnering companies, including Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and United Water, to participate on behalf of the affiliate using three easy steps:

  • Gather used small electronics, filling a sturdy box with at least 20 items
  • Print the pre-paid shipping label
  • Hand it off to UPS to be shipped to Planet Green

For every item shipped back to Planet Green on behalf of the affiliate, Habitat Bergen receives funds to support its housing projects.

Among the acceptable items to donate include printer cartridges, cell phones, Ipods/MP3 players, digital/video cameras, eBook readers, tablets, video game consoles and games.
