Power Outages Affect Kinderkamack Road

River is high, but most of the flooding is on the New Milford side

The rain is gone, but with power still out in RiverDell, businesses along Kinderkamack Road in both towns are closed for the time being - only the and had their doors open.

PSE&G trucks were spotted throughout the area with employees working to restore power to the  1,000 and 4,000 homeowners still waiting for electricity. Restoration of full power in all areas of River Edge and Oradell has been estimated to take until .

Traveling along Kinderkamack Road will result in traffic backing up because traffic lights from Soldier Hill Road to New Milford Avenue in Oradell are out and at Continental Avenue, Midland Road and Fifth Avenue intersections in River Edge.

"Our power went out yesterday afternoon but came back early this morning," a Park Avenue resident in River Edge said.

Terri of Center Avenue in River Edge also said she had no power as of this morning.

"We'll stay open as long as we have power," children's librarian Mary Anne Guiliano said. "My son has a friend that works with PSE&G. He said that due to the water in the substations, they might turn off the grids and start over."

The is closed due to a lack of power. is open till 4pm Monday and will have normal hours the rest of the week. and are operating off of generators at this time.

Due to flooding in , River Edge Road and New Milford Avenue will remain closed until the river subsides. Marginal Road leading to the is underwater as well. Oradell Avenue from Kinderkamack Road down toward St. Joseph Church has been reopened.

The has power and will be open during Monday, but there was no answer at the .

Public and private schools in both boroughs are closed. All is suspended Monday. Local gas stations are open on Rt. 17 and Rt. 4 where the power is on.
