Man Found Unconscious In Sea Bright Surf Wednesday, Later Dies
A 64-year-old Highlands man was found unconscious in the surf in Sea Bright Wednesday afternoon.

SEA BRIGHT, NJ — A local man was found unconscious in the surf in Sea Bright Wednesday afternoon and was later pronounced dead at Monmouth Medical Center, according to Sea Bright Mayor Brian Kelly.
The man has been identified as Henry C. Potter, 64, of Highlands.
Passersby on the beach saw the man in the surf on the 200 block of North Beach at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. Kelly said he wasn't sure, but the man did not appear to be struggling in the water.

This was at one of Sea Bright's unguarded beaches in the north end of town; only the town's southern beaches have lifeguards.
People pulled him out of the water and paramedics and EMTs responded and tried to save the man using CPR and other techniques. He was taken to Monmouth Medical Center, but pronounced dead there at 5:52 p.m. Wednesday.

Kelly said it is far too early to release a cause of the man's death or speculate, as he thinks an autopsy needs to be done.
