Earlier today, Jason and Steven Parker of Scotch Plains were featured on Fox Business News to discuss their business, K-9 Resort Daycare and Luxury Hotel located in Fanwood.

The brothers, who Patch previously reported were in the process of franchising out locations, told Fox Business News that they are closing the ninth franchising deal this Friday and the 10th deal next month.

Since opening the business in 2005, the brothers knew they wanted to expand the business outside of Fanwood and in 2010 their plans started to come to fruition.

The business has been experiencing year after year growth, Steven told Fox Business News. He said they have expanded their Fanwood facility every year since opening.

“There definitely are competitors,” Steven said. “But I don’t think there are any competitors to the extent or to the level we are doing it.”

Jason noted that they specialize in cage-free boarding, where each dog is given their own room or suite. The suites include outdoor window views, plasma screen television’s tuned to animal planet, he said.

The top-of-the-line option for boarding will cost $73 per day, but you can also choose add-ons to that package such as orthopedic mattresses, bottled spring water, and a special Gucci bed for dogs.

“We’ve cooked filet mignon for dogs,” Steven said. “Obviously these are some of the more extremes.”

Jason added that the most common price point for customers is $61 per day. Usually the brothers see customers paying $100 to $200 per week during a vacation period, which is seven days on average.

Right now, the brothers have closed franchising deals in New Jeresy, Pennsylvania and Virginia they told Fox Business News that their five year goal is to have one or two more flagship locations and 100 stores on the East Coast.

“Eventually, we’d like to take it nationwide,” Steven said.

When Patch spoke to the brothers in December, Steven added that his brother, Jason, who is often too humble to admit it, is the youngest franchise owner in America at age 25.
