Man's Body Found In Passaic River In Kearny Wednesday

At 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, Kearny Police received a call reporting a body in the Passaic River behind 175 Passaic Avenue.

KEARNY, NJ — In addition to the tragic news of a mother and 11-year-old son found dead in a Morris County pond Tuesday night (with the woman's six-year-old boy located wandering nearby), a man's body was pulled out of the Passaic River in Kearny Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10:48 a.m., the Kearny Police Department received a call reporting a body in the Passaic River in the area behind 175 Passaic Avenue, according to Kearny Police Chief George King.

Police and fire officials responded and recovered the body of a deceased adult male from the river.

The cause and manner of death are pending an examination by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office; however, the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature at this time.

The identification of the dead man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
