South Brunswick Police are actively investigating a home invasion that occurred in Kendall Park this afternoon. The home invasion took place on Virginia Street, just off of Henderson Road in the Brunswick Acres Development.

At 2:25 p.m. police received a 911 call reporting two men armed with a handgun forced their way into the residence, located at 13 Virginia Street. The suspects ransacked a bedroom during the robbery, according to police. The suspects then ran from the home and got into a black sedan parked around the corner.

South Brunswick Police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan said one person was home at the time of the break-in. The resident didn't suffer any injuries during the incident.

The suspects are described by South Brunswick Police as two black males, in their late teens to early 20's, with short braids in their hair. Both suspects were wearing white t-shirts and jeans, with one wearing a dark bandana his head, according to police. The suspects were about 5'08 to 5'10" with a medium build.

The vehicle was described as a black color sedan, possibly an older model Mitsubishi Lancer, according to police.

At 3:30 p.m. the residence was blocked off by police tape as investigators scoured the scene for evidence.

Both Brunswick Acres Elementary School and St. Augustine's of Canterbury School were placed on exterior lockdown for approximately 20 minues while police searched the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mike Pellino (732) 329-4646.
