Summit Mayor Ellen Dickson Visits First Aid Squad Temporary Location

Summit Mayor Ellen Dickson Visits First Aid Squad Temporary Location
Press release:

SUMMIT, N.J., May 26, 2014 – Summit Mayor Ellen Dickson met with members of the Summit First Aid Squad early Tuesday at their temporary new home at Salerno-Duane Ford on Broad Street.  Members of the First Aid Squad were on hand to provide Mayor Dickson with a tour the temporary facility, provide an update on the seamless transfer of operations last Friday and discuss timing of the renovation project at its Elm Street headquarters.

“The squad's current home on Elm Street is outmoded, overcrowded and too small to garage modern ambulances,” explained Mayor Dickson.  The new headquarters will enable our highly-trained first responders to respond to 21st-century needs and continue to provide essential services to the Summit community.”

The construction project is expected to take approximately nine months and cost an estimated $5 million. The fundraising drive for the headquarters renovation is the largest endeavor in squad history and has raised more than 85% of its established goal. The squad is seeking community support to help raise the remaining funds. For more information about the capital campaign or to make a donation to the project, go to http://summitems.org.
