Bergen Wrestling Coach Accused Of Sexually Abusing Teen: Police

18-year-old allegedly lured the teenager by using Snapchat and other social media platforms, police said.

An 18-year-old New York man charged with sex abuse against a teenager was a volunteer coach at Bergen County wrestling tournaments, authorities said this week.

Clarkstown New York police charged Marcus Stroud with felony criminal sexual act and misdemeanor sex abuse, sexual misconduct, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Stroud would travel to wrestling clinics and offer his assistance as a volunteer coach, police said. He was not employed by any area wrestling clubs.

Stroud lured the alleged victim on Snapchat and other social media programs, police said.

The initial social media contact began in December, police said. Stroud was arrested Feb. 22 after the alleged victim’s parents reported the issue to authorities.

Clarkstown police said there may be additional victims and are continuing to investigate the case. Anyone with information should call the Clarkstown Juvenile Aid Bureau at 845-639-5835.
