Berkeley Man Found Dead On Bench Outside Toms River IHOP: Police

It was not known how long the man was on the bench before his body was discovered, police said

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River police are investigating the death of a Berkeley Township man whose body was found on a bench outside an IHOP on Monday.

Jaime Kolbasowski, 28, of Berkeley Township, was found dead outside the IHOP at 941 Route 37 West shortly after noon on Monday, Toms River Sgt. Gene Bachonski confirmed Tuesday.

Police said there was no reason to believe it was a homicide, he said.

A passerby reported a dead man on the bench, he said, but it was not known how long Kolbasowski was there before he was discovered.

The death is under investigation by township Detectives Patrick Jacques and Louis Santora, along with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, Sundack said. The cause of Kolbasowski’s death is not yet known, he said.
