Eric LeGrand To Speak At Ocean County Library

The former Rutgers defensive end will talk about his journey back after a paralyzing hit in a 2010 football game and sign copies of his book

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- Former Rutgers defensive end Eric LeGrand will be making at appearance at the main branch of the Ocean County Library in July, according to the library.

LeGrand is the former Scarlet Knights football player who suffered a devastating tackle in a 2010 football game against Army. The tackle left him paralyzed from the neck down, and doctors gave the young man a dismal prognosis.

Five weeks after saying LeGrand would never breathe without a ventilator, he drew breath on his own. He ended up returning to the football field to lead his teammates onto the field in his wheelchair.
