Police: Subaru Broadsided Jeep in Toms River Accident
Toms River police say a Jeep was broadsided by a Subaru on Thursday afternoon, causing the Jeep to overturn and its driver to have to be airlifted to a trauma center.

The 12:04 p.m. crash took place at the intersection of Larch Drive and Oakhill Drive, spokesman Ralph Stocco said.

A 2010 Jeep driven by Tim Geoghegan, 26, of Toms River was traveling west on Oakhill Drive when it was struck broadside causing it to overturn as a result of an impact with another vehicle, a 2011 Subaru which was being driven north on Larch Drive by Mary Padovano, 56, of Island Heights.

Geoghegan had the right of way and Padovano had a stop sign, Stocco said.

Geoghegan was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by medevac helicopter for treatment of his injuries, where he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit pending surgery, according to Stocco.

Traffic Officer Terry Warren is leading the investigation and is assisted by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Traffic Investigative Unit. The incident remains under investigation and the officers are still at the scene of the crash. No charges have been filed as of yet, Stocco said.
