Traffic Alert: Route 166 Closed In Beachwood: Sheriff

BEACHWOOD, NJ — A transformer fire has forced authorities to close a section of Route 166 Monday morning, according to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office.

The closure is in Beachwood and runs all the way to Water Street in Toms River, according to a Nixle alert from the sheriff's office.

An initial post by the sheriff's office on Facebook said the closure would be until noon, but the Nixle alert extended that time.

Because of the closure, motorists should expect heavier traffic on Route 9 and the stretch of the Garden State Parkway between exits 82 and 80 as all through traffic gets funneled to that stretch of road.
