Although there are many diners in the area, is one of the few that is owned and operated by an Italian family and where their meals are homemade on site.

Mac's, which has the slogan "Where friends meet" printed on its placemats, offers your typical diner food, but also meals that you would find in an Italian restaurant, like Chicken and Veal Parmigiana hoagies, pasta dishes and more.

There is a large variety of dishes on the menu including gyros, steaks, sliders, paninis and Mexican options.

One thing I love about diners is that you can order breakfast at any time of day. I ordered the French Toast ($3.99) which I have not had since childhood and my guest went with a Canadian Burger ($6.50) and asked for his side of French fries to be made into pizza fries (with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese), which they were able to do without hesitation.

I was excited to see the thick slices of French Toast along with butter and syrup on the side when they came to the table. The French Toast was made out of Challah bread and was egg-dipped, making the edges crispy and the middle soft. I noticed the butter melted as I put it on top of my French Toast-a lot of places serve butter so cold that it is impossible to melt.

My guest’s Canadian Burger was so large, he had a hard time finishing it, but certainly enjoyed the portion he ate.

After ordering I had gone into the bathroom, which I have to say was very clean and modern. The entire diner was clean, which is comforting when bringing your family out to eat.

Daily specials are offered and, as long as they have the ingredients, they will make you anything you would like to order. Mac's is extremely flexible and offers affordable prices (it has actually been years since prices were raised the owner said). Prices of specials were also affordable. For example, one of the specials was soup or salad, dessert, tea or coffee, along with a turkey sandwich for only $7.99. This diner gives you quality food without digging deep into your wallet.

Anna Dragone, the daughter of the diner's owners, said that Mac's is a great place for families. “We treat everyone as if they were family, not a customer,” she said. Mac's certainly offers a relaxed atmosphere that will make you feel comfortable.

Mac’s Diner is open daily from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The diner is located at 1420 State Rt 23 North in Butler.
