Forced Home Entry Reported In Cedar Grove: Police

A bystander told officers he saw a "suspicious" male running down the driveway and carrying a large jewelry box, Cedar Grove police say.

Cedar Grove, NJ – Cedar Grove police are investigating an alleged forced entry and burglary that took place at a Ridge Road home last week.

According to police, officers responded to the home around 3 p.m. on June 17 on a report of an intrusion alarm.

A bystander told officers that he saw a “suspicious” male running down the driveway of the home and carrying a large jewelry box, police said.

The suspect allegedly got into a waiting silver or light gray Toyota Pathfinder and left the area, the bystander told police.

Responding officers conducted a search for the vehicle and suspect with negative results, authorities said.

“It was subsequently determined the suspect had forced entry through a front window of the home and upon entry removed the observed jewelry box from a bedroom,” Cedar Grove police said in a news release.

The detective bureau processed the scene for physical evidence and is conducting a follow-up investigation, police added.
