Verona Fire Torches Local Garage (PHOTOS)

Verona firefighters found a "well-involved garage fire" when they arrived on the scene, authorities said.

VERONA, NJ — The Verona Volunteer Fire Department responded to a Lynwood Road residence on Tuesday, extinguishing a car fire that caused serious damage to a garage, authorities say.

According to the Verona Fire Department, on arrival at the scene, firefighters found a well-involved garage fire with a vehicle inside.

“Engine 10 arriving as the first due unit established a water supply and stretched two hose lines to quickly attack the fire and protect the exposure,” Verona fire officials stated. “VFD crews from Station 1 and 2 made a knockdown on the fire.”

Crews operated on scene for about two hours before being released, authorities said.

The Verona Police Department, Verona Rescue Squad, Verona Fire Prevention Bureau and Essex County Prosecutors Office also responded to the scene, authorities stated.
