Body Found In Burned Jeep On N.J. Roadway In West Milford

A body was found in a burned jeep found on a New Jersey roadway this weekend.

At approximately 9:58 p.m. on Sunday, police came upon a 2007 gray Jeep Cherokee fully engulfed in flames off the roadway on Clinton Road in West Milford, police said.

A large section of the wooded area had also caught fire. West Milford Fire Companies 2,1, and 4 responded.

After extinguishing the fire, one deceased person was located within the vehicle. As of Tuesday, the victim has not been positively identified.

The incident is being investigated by the West Milford Township Police Crash Investigation Unit who are requesting that any possible witnesses please contact the Police Department at 973-728-2800.
