Body Found In Vacant North Jersey Home: Prosecutor

The unidentified woman's death does not appear suspicious and no suspects are being sought, authorities said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — The body of a deceased woman was found in an abandoned home in Totowa Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Local police were called to 340 Totowa Road after a resident reported a strange odor coming from the vacant multi-family home there, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes stated in a news release.

Police found an unidentified woman's body inside the building, Valdes said.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the woman's death is not suspicious. No suspects are being sought and there is nothing to indicate there is any danger to the public, Valdes said.

Authorities have not yet determined the deceased woman's identity.

The New Jersey Medical Examiner's Office, Totowa Police Department, and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the death. More information will be released when it becomes available, the prosecutor said.
