Earthquake Struck North Jersey Monday, U.S. Geological Survey Says

Earthquake could be felt in Morris, Passaic, and Bergen counties, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

A small earthquake hit parts of North Jersey early Monday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed.

The 1.1-magnitude earthquake was centered around Kinnelon in Morris County, the USGS reported. It was reported at 12:06 a.m.

The quake was centered less than a mile of Kinnelon. It could be felt in surrounding towns, officials said, including Pompton Lakes, Wanaque, Oakland, and even in Trenton, more than 50 miles away.

Two earthquakes, a 1.7- and 1.2 on the Richter Scale, rattled North Jersey in February.
